Weekend Activities
Overview.
This page holds information about CA Weekend Activities.
What are the Weekend Activities?
Weekend activities are planned by the Student Activities Coordinator, the Entertainment Committee, or by any other campus group that has a particular interest or event to share. The Entertainment Committee comprises elected class representatives and is coordinated by the Student Life office. The co-heads of Entertainment Committee are elected by the student body.
Students can view upcoming weekend activities in the feed below, or on the activities board on the wall outside the Student Life office. Events requiring students to sign up can be signed up for on the board.
As the goal of each weekend activity is to build a sense of community in the school, weekend activities are open to both boarding and day students.
Commitment Policy:
Signing up for weekend activities is a commitment. Let’s pretend a weekend activity is like a party.
If you say you’ll go to a party, you commit to bringing a dish or gift or sharing in the expenses of the party. In this case, that’s sharing in the cost of the weekend activity, via a charge to your bookstore account. Sometimes parties are free, just like some weekend activities are.
But even if you were going to a free party, you would tell the host if you suddenly couldn’t go, right? And, if your host is very friendly like we are at CA, you might even say “but my friend ____ would love to come to the party!” and the host would say “that’s great, I love hanging out with ____”
So, if you must renege on your commitment to an activity after signing up, you are expected to:
-
Tell Brett Kelly in the Student Life office 204 or email her by Friday at NOON of that week.
-
If there is a cost to the trip, you should ask another student to take your place, and, if you can’t, be prepared to still contribute to the cost of the activity if the spot is not filled .
Failure to follow this procedure may result in revocation of the privilege to participate in weekend activities.
