Setting Notifications in Google Calendar

From Google Calendar, click the event as it appears on your calendar. On the page that opens, click the add notification link. From the first drop down option, select email. Then set the time you would like to be reminded. Once complete, click save to save the event. See the screenshot below, showing the event page, where it can be edited.
